August ribbon cutting for Camden History Kiosk

Over 100 local elected officials and citizens attended the August 14, 2021 press conference where the City of Camden Mayor Vic Carstarphen introduced the Heritage Tourism Interactive Touch Screen Kiosk, three 42” TV screens  installed in the first-floor lobby of Camden City Hall Mayor Carstarphen offered his congratulations to the team organized by Patrice Bassett, the City of Camden Archivist,  which included the mural artist Donna Backus, historian Donna Ann Harris of Heritage Consulting Inc. and Matthew Fisher of Night Kitchen Interactive, the designer of the touch screen kiosk display.

In addition to serving as historian and writing all the educational content, Heritage Consulting Inc’s Harris also wrote the three grants that funded this $135,000 project. The kiosk design and installation were undertaken by Night Kitchen Interactive, and we have worked with Matthew Fischer, the principal of that firm, over the last year to plan for the installation.  Here is the text of the 50 popups.

We were asked to make remarks during the press conference, to showcase a half dozen of the lesser-known histories seen in Donna Backeus’s mural of fifty people, places, and events in the three hundred years of Camden history. Anyone can access the kiosk in the lobby of Camden City Hall at 520 Market Street in downtown Camden.
